4g wireless networks
Different wireless companies such as T-Mobile, Sprint, AT&T, Verizon, and many other try to persuade you to believe that their wireless network is the best. IP networks form the backbone of worldwide digital networking. They have encouraged the merger of voice, data, and radio waves, which can be digitized into packets and sent via any digital network (Turban, Volonino). This convergence is happening on a much more global scale and is changing the way in which people, devices, and applications communicate (Turban, Volonino). Every aspect of enterprise depends on mobility and being mobile and having great network is a big deal in today’s society. Everyone wants immediate network connectivity to text, tweet, do work, and everything else. This paper will compare and contrast 3G wireless to 4G wireless networks and discuss the competition between the two carriers 3G and 4G networks can be compared in four different areas: services and applications, network architecture, data throughput, and user perceptions. The 3G and 4G networks have some similarities but differ in many ways. 3G is short for third generation of cellular telecommunications technology (Turban, Volonino). 3G supports multimedia and broadband services, do so over a wider range and at much faster speeds than the prior network generations (Turban, Volonino). 3G also have greater ranges because they use larger satellite connections that connect to different telecommunication towers. 4G is short for fourth generation of cellular telecommunications technology (Turban, Volonino). 4G mobile network standards enable faster data transfer rates. 4G technologies represent the latest stage in the evolution of wireless data technology. 4G also deliver average download rates of 3mbps or higher (Turban, Volonino). In contrast, 3G networks only deliver about one tenth of the 3mbps the 4G networks gives off (Turban, Volonino). Some of the services the 3G networks off are CDMA2000, EDGE, EV-DO and EV-DV (not used in
