Passion is the most motivational emotion that can drive one to conquer or attempt any task and acts as a symbol of free will, as being passionate can only stem from the heart and mind and cannot be created. In the song “4pm in Calabasas” by Drake, he describes how his passion for music stems from his identity and how his passion has driven him to be successful. Drake highlights his dad’s advice about the power of identity and says, “I tried to make the right choices with the world watching / “Mike never tried to rap like Pac / Pac never tried to sing like Mike” (Drake 0:51-0:56). However, it dehumanizes the children through art, acting as a scapegoat to fill the dark void between clones and humans. Art acts as a symbol of true, genuine human expression, so when institutions abuse the delicate line of what is human, they are dehumanizing the children even more. The forced creation of art is far more dehumanizing than recognizing them as human; it is far easier to dehumanize and poorly treat the children of Hailsham as institutions if they are classified to be inferior and do not have the same indomitable human spirit that a non-clone would have. So, forcing them to create even to be able to prove that they even have souls is simply unjust, harmful, and dehumanizing. The institutions ultimately do more harm than good for those within them through the highly restrictive control the institutions have over the children's future and the dehumanizing behaviors that they have
