5 Year Plan
In life, goals with time frames are important to set in order to achieve them. When looking at the place I want to be in five years, there are things that must be in place first. But with determination I will achieve these goals so that I can set new goals. The first thing I intend to accomplish to help with my five -year plan is to complete my MBA. This process has already begun by me attending Ashford University to obtain my MBA with a specialization in Project Management. Once I complete graduate school, I will have expanded my knowledge in management to further my career. Although I feel I have good leadership skills now, the goal is to always be expanding and building those skills. Currently, I am the Director of Information Services and have engineers that work under me. In five years I want to have gained the knowledge in order to take over the company. Already the current president has stated that she plans to step down from the day-to-day management of the company. I have always pictured myself to be leading a company. So my intentions are to grow this company and move up in management so I am prepared to take over when the president retires or decides to step down. Growing and expanding the information technology (IT) company to larger cities in North Carolina is another part of my five-year plan. In five years I want to have grown the company enough to where I have doubled my team and have a management level between the engineers and myself. This will allow me to put more focus on growing the company. There are only two other companies located in the same city that we consider competitors. The company I work for has been the number three IT company in the area for the last three years. I want to offer the superior customer service as well as the best IT services available. Once we have grown in our current city to the point we are the number one IT company, my plan is to expand to surrounding large cities and become the number one IT

As a Planning and Zoning Technician in the development of the 2030 Master Plan in 2015 for the City of Opelika, I was tasked to draft key initiatives for the Planning Department. First, I reviewed and updated the current zoning map and future land use map while considering future transportation and infrastructure needs. Second, I was assigned to create a GIS layer for the three-mile extraterritorial area called the planning jurisdiction, including creating initiatives for this area that might benefit the future growth of the city. Third, I was encouraged to add staff recommendations for future zoning ordinance updates to adopt for implementation in the 2030 Master Plan.…

In life, to successfully move forward I need to establish goals. “The tragedy in life is not reaching your goal, but having no goal to reach” (Leadership for Student Activities, 2005). I must have a plan of how I will achieve my goals and be able to identify when an important element of that goal is reached. Possible setbacks must be considered and purposeful schemes arranged for when the unexpected shows up. According to Deci and Ryan (1984), “Goals, whether trivial, routine, significant or life altering, are part of peoples everyday lives”.…
