Movie Analysis
In the movie, “6 Degrees That Could Change the World,” we see some of the disaster effects that would occur if they earth were to continue to warm. We see effects from 1 degree
Celsius, up to 6 degree Celsius. This increase in temperature may seem like a small number, but in terms of global warming, 6 degrees has been the difference between now and the last ice age that occurred 18,000 years ago. This can be very devastating for our planet.
At an increase of just1 degree Celsius, the Arctic will be ice free for half of the year, thousands of homes would flood, and severe drought would occur throughout the United States, just to name a few scenarios. These severe droughts will have a major impact on farmers and ranchers. They will not be able to keep …show more content…
At this point, glaciers in Greenland will disappear, polar bears will struggle to survive and a large majority of the world’s tropical reefs will be gone.
If we jump ahead to an increase of 5 and 6 degrees Celsius, we see an even bigger concern for the future of our planet. When the earth temperature rises 5 degrees, climate change is much more difficult to predict. The Northern and Southern hemispheres, will consist of two massive uninhabitable zones. Major cities around the world will begin drying out and social systems may begin breaking down. The “doomsday scenario” would occur if the earth were to warm to 6 degrees Celcius. It was given this name because of the events that will occur. Some of these events include: oceans becoming marine wastelands, desserts throughout the continents and natural disasters occurring as common events. If we reach this within the next century, a global wipeout could certainly take place.
One important piece of information that was given, was that mobility is key. It may even be the key to your survival. You must be able to move from place to place. This will allow
