to make sure the player has no brain injury or any other type of injuries. Another reason the 7 day disabled list is just right because its main goal is to get the athlete cleared for return to play or preventing the athlete going back to the game to early. Cash K(2011, March 11) MLB.com saying before the athlete gets cleared to play, the athlete has to go through series of tests to show that they are able to return to play. After the tests have been passed the MLB medical director and the committee to let the athlete return to play. I believe that the league is making the right decision on making up test to make sure the athlete is able to play and not returning to play while having a concussion. However, I think that the MLB needs to find a way to prevent concussions from getting hit in the head. I know that they can not predict when a batter is going to get hit or not, but I think they need to research about having batting helmets that takes the impact than our brain suffering a severe brain injury. The last reason that the 7 day disabled list for concussions is just right because it shows that the MLB cares for the athletes and educating the health professionals about concussions.
The Major League Baseball player association on March 29,2011 saying that they are focusing on player long term effects on players that had concussions. Aaron Hill a member of the Toronto Blue Jays was interviewed about the new concussion protocol. He says that “he is happy that they are researching about concussions for athletes. Just not in baseball, but all sports.” I am glad as an athlete that people are looking after me and wanting to help me to help my team to win game and titles. I love that all of the major popular sports are now fining player for hitting other players in the head or neck area on
purpose. The 7 day disabled list is just right for the athletes with concussions. I believe it's just right because it gives the team doctors and health professionals to diagnose you correctly and make sure you are able to return to play. It also aims on preventing any long term effects and helping the team doctors and athletic trainers learn about the concussions and the overall health of the athlete. As a result of the MLB coming out with the new protocol with the 7 day disabled list the concussions in the MLB have been caught in the early stages.
