9/11: Tragic Day For America And The World
“Inside Job” September 11, 2001 was unquestionably a tragic day for America and the world. The 9/11 attacks were suicide attacks controlled by Al-Qaeda upon the United States. During the early hours of that day, nineteen Islamist terrorists aligned with Al-Qaeda hijacked four passenger jet airlines. The hijackers intentionally crashed two of the airlines into the Twin Towers of the World Trade Centers in New York City, killing almost everyone in the building along with destroying many facilities. Many other places nearby suffered the same fatal result. The hijackers crashed a third airline into the Pentagon, the headquarters of the U.S. Department of Defense near Washington, DC. The 9/11 attacks was not the first time when terrorists tried to take down the World Trade Center. The 1993 World Trade Center bombing would have become the day (9/11 day) of taking away thousands of innocent lives, but the terrorists did not succeed in their mission. According to Seth Cline in his article, “…two men parked a yellow Ryder truck in a public parking garage beneath the World Trade Center and detonated a half-ton bomb. The blast did not topple the towers, as the driver of that truck, Ramzi Yousef, had hoped.” Terrorists always wanted to bring the twin towers down. Two people brought half-ton bomb inside the building. It was strange that they passed the security check with the bomb. It gave an opportunity to the Unites States to keep the security at high level and save nation from the terrorist. It was one of the biggest warnings to the United States. Another, jets were used as weapon even before the 9/11 attacks. According to Philip Shenon in his article in The New York Times, “The F.B.I. knew by 1996 of a specific threat that terrorists in Al Qaeda, Mr. bin Laden 's network, might use a plane in a suicide attack against the headquarters of the C.I.A. or another large federal building.” Five years before the 9/11 attacks happened, the FBI also knew that students controlled by Al Qaeda in U.S. were learning how to fly plane. In those five years, they could have started the same security system at the airports as now. Nothing was done to secure the nation. The strongest departments in the world, the CIA and FBI, failed to act on
