Do you ever wonder what happens prior to a murder, what lead to this outcome, what the victim felt or even what the murder felt? A homicide detective is the one who figures all this out. A homicide is when one human being kills another human being and a detective is the one that finds out why? Why it happened? How did it happen? Who caused it? Where did it occur? And What lead to this act of violence? The reason I chose this career is because it allows me to investigate but for all good reasons. Choosing this career path, I would have to do a lot of schooling to get to the point that I want to be at. They don't sit in a cop car, do not have an official uniform nor do they go check up places to patrol. Instead, they dig deep to find evidence on their crime scenes and try figuring how each bit of evidence is connected. They are usually the most bland officers in the field because they wear a plain suit and tie and drive an “unmarked car” so they won't be so obvious in public. Working in this career also requires long hours maybe even late at night and always on call when needed. All you have to have is just a high school diploma, be a US citizen, and contain a driver's license as said on “Aspiring homicide detectives could request to join a police department. Applicants must be twenty-one or older and need to have at least a high school diploma along with a driver’s license related to the state you are living in and US citizenship” by (educatoncareerarticles.com). Also, attend police boot camp and simply work your way up. Although, if you were to receive an education in college for this career you would have to study criminology and complete about 6 years of schooling and/or if you were to come out of the military this would also benefit you.
