A Christmas Carol Scrooge Character Analysis

In A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens, a reclusive character is portrayed by the grumpy old Ebenezer Scrooge. Scrooge, the main character of the story, was an old man living in his own terms. However, grave iniquities were naturally overflowing in his veins. Scrooge detested the human kind in general. His misanthropy caused his greediness and lack of interest in life. His selfishness and awful misanthropy, however, changed with the help of the three ghosts. In the midst of the gleeful Christmas season, Scrooge was visited by three phantoms that showed him his wickedness and its consequences. After the visitation of the ghosts, Scrooge’s vices of misanthropy and selfishness began to alter; thus, motivated him to provoke compassion towards others. In the beginning, Scrooge was not to be admired for his vigorous hatred towards people. For that, people also disliked his egocentricity. However, his cold heart began to warm because of the ghosts. Seeing his mistakes and the effect of it, he pursued to transform himself to become compassionate and benevolent. The story of old grumpy Scrooge is an inspiration to all who have gravely committed various sins that will to change and face towards God. In this story, time was not an issue for his transformation, however, determined him to change furthermore. This story is to inspire sinners to sincerely strive to change for the better, and that there is no limitation and nor a dead line to do so.
