In the passage it states, “He came into the room to shut the windows while we were still in bed and I saw he looked ill.” (A Day’s Wait, pg.299 par.1). This shows that the boy in this story is actually ill. In the next passage it states, “I’ll bet you can’t run a half mile.” This just shows that if he really had the disease he would already be dead from it.(Stolen Day, pg.306 par.7). Also one of the boys is self-centered while the other doesn’t want the attention. In the passage it states, “They would all home come to supper and they’d miss me.” (Stolen Day, pg.307 par.10). This just proves that he wants them to miss him and he wants all the attention for himself. Also in the other passage it states, “You don’t have to stay in here with me, Papa, if it bothers you.” (A Day’s Wait, pg.301 par.11). Finally the last difference is that they both have different diseases. In the passage, “This was a light epidemic of flu,”(A Day’s Wait pg.300 par.1). This proves that he has the fever. In the other passage it states, “I still had inflammatory rheumatism pretty bad, but I could get along better.” This one states that he has a disease called inflammatory rheumatism.
