A Letter To Collinsville Faith In Action
I’d like to thank you for my fourteen wonderful years with Collinsville Faith in Action. My last day was November 20th. I am proud to have led such devoted group of volunteers. You have touched my life by allowing me to touch yours. I am reminded of a quote from an 80’s movie “Hope Floats”. “Beginnings are kind of scary and endings are always hard. It is the stuff in the middle that counts.” For me, CFIA had a whole lot of middle. I hope to stay in touch with each and every one of you. Carry on. Lori Fry, CFIA

Thank you for everything, Rebecca Hopkins Razavi. I think I speak for the entire cohort when I say it's been an honor to be with you this school year. You've helped us all greatly and we are forever grateful. I can truly see the growth of every single individual in this amazing group. We are all appreciative of how you helped us get to this point. We are extremely blessed to have opportunities/support systems like Hillman, and we should pay it forward at UMD. As Buzz Lightyear from Toy Story would say,"To infinity...and…

In their book, A Trinitarian Theology of Religions: An Evangelical Proposal, Gerald R. McDermott and Harold A. Netland construct a Trinitarian theological framework to help Evangelical Christians to Scripturally engage religions and religious others. McDermott and Netland recognize that the rise of globalization prompts the need for a proper theological framework to help understand other faiths. Theological framework is necessary for Christians to live among neighbors and friends belonging to other religious paths.…

My father and uncles’ instilled a statement in my head from a young age that I will never forget. This statement is closely related to the Law of Legacy and very relevant to being a leader in the modern business world. The statement only consists of a few words, but these words are very powerful and if this statement is followed, your reputation as a leader will be respected and hopefully emulated. The statement is, “Lead by example, do what is right, be the best you can be, and treat others the way you would like to be treated.”…

Hey Diana, I am writing this letter today with hopes to inform you about a religions course I am taking. I know you are a history guy so I thought it would be interesting to write about the religious history of America. The United States happens to be one of very few major nations in history to be founded and established on principles of separation of church and state. This book I am reading, “The Religious History of America”, by Edwin Gaustad and Leigh Schmidt, gives a great overview of the different strand of religious development in the United States. They are divided into four fundamental time periods: the Colonial times; the Revolutionary War to the Civil War; Post Civil War to World War II; and World War II to present day.…

Faith integration in therapy looks like a client receiving an all or partial Rogerian approach to therapy which consists of empathy, unconditional positive regard, and genuineness. The difference between the Rogerian approach with faith integration versus the Rogerian approach without faith integration is the reason behind the Rogerian approach with faith integration is because of the calling Christians have to love on others. WIthout that calling it may be easier to leave a client.…

The article is about faith-based colleges and the lawsuits filed against them interfering with freedom of religion. There is a bill that is being voted on in the state Senate in California, allowing lawsuits against faith-based colleges on discrimination. Both the colleges and students feel that they are restricted their rights. However, it affects some colleges because they receive money from the government through funding and some students have financial aid. The colleges feel that they are losing their rights to freedom of religion and that they will have to change the traditions that have been at the college. While the students that do not believe in what the colleges practice, also feel the loss of rights in how they want to express themselves.…

    The Gospel Message

What are some ways the Christian gospel is perceived in our culture? The Christian gospel is perceived in today’s culture as offensive and exclusive instead of the inclusive gospel that it is because of the sin nature of man. As simple as the gospel message is, it seems to be the hardest to accept because to be honest it is hard for people to view themselves as sinners in the sight of God. I was once one of those people that believed I was saved because I gave my life to Christ at the age of five, but then strayed away as I got older. I thought I was a good person, I didn’t steal, hadn’t killed anyone so I was good in my own eyes, but to the standards of our holy god, I was sin sick and needed saving. It was not until I decided I could not live by my own strength, my own wisdom, or by my own desires any longer and I cried out to God, God I can’t do this anymore, please help me, tell me what to do, what you want out of my life, I can’t figure it out on my own.…

After I finished the Lasallian Philosophy of Education, I have learned the life and time of St. John Baptist De La Salle, his major works and writings, what the responding of the 21 st century La Salle schools is, and the guiding principles of the Philippines Lasallian Family. De La Salle is a great person because he contributed his whole life to education, and he is the first one who opened the school to all. The most important thing for us is his experiences of faith because he believes that God provides everything for him. Through the lasallian guiding principles and the writings of St. De La Salle, I want to share about three values which are fundamental to Lasallian: the spirit of faith, zeal for service, and communion in mission.…
