A Long Way Gone Theme

In the book,”A Long Way Gone,” nature is the theme and it is personified in it. That is because Ishmael in this story went outside a lot of times because his village is burnt and his family is dead. First, the war started which Ishmael and his brother and friends were trying to escape together to avoid getting killed by the rebels. And also he gets food outside like fruits on the trees, or other plants that can eat. That represent some nature. Another instance is when his grandmother talks about the moon in the sky, which it reminds him of his happiness of his childhood. It connects to nature because moon is nature, it there whenever at night. Sometimes Ishmael is afraid that nature can kill him and hurt him like the air, got chased by wild animals, and the ocean.
Also, one time when after one battle, he said “the rain washed the blood off the leaves as if cleaning the surface of the forest, but the dead bodies remained under the bushes.” Which those relates to nature because in life we will see rain, forest and those all represents how life nature really is. That's because nature can happen anything like a rain suddenly comes and it can change the fact cause nothing can control nature. There also on chapter 10, when Ishmael is listening to his grandmother’s stories about star, moon, and sky which it falls in the category of nature and this is why this book’s theme is nature. For the anthropomorphism, the story employs in the similar manner because the story of the wild boars shows how smart the pigs were because at first the hunter try to killed a bunch of pigs at once but, one smart pig saw it and told his fellow members. Which now the pigs will never trust any human and treat them nice anymore. Which pig is as smart as the humans too. Not only the pigs but other animals as well because in the the story of the hunter and the monkeys it is almost the same
