Every character has their own dream as to what they would like to do with the insurance check that came in the mail and that causes conflict. The Younger family is faced with a racial decision when a representative from the neighborhood they bought a house in, tries to tell them that they do not belong. The Younger family then has to decide if they will take pride in their name and live their dreams or stay in their same, old neighborhood. In A Raisin in the Sun, the Younger family has a tight bond and all of a sudden portrayal takes place from Walter when he decided to use the money that his mother told him was for him and his sister for his liquor license and loses it to a friend which he never saw …show more content…
Each character had their own dreams to what they wanted to with the money. Ruth and Lena wanted their own home. Walter wanted a liquor store. Beneatha wanted to attend Medical school. Walter showed greed and irresponsibility in the play when he used the money that was for him and his sister to buy his own liquor license. Walter was able to step up and become a man when a representative from the white neighborhood came and tried to tell them that their neighborhood was not for them. Walter decided to keep his family’s last name strong by moving into the neighborhood with pride. At the end of the play every one was happy because they were finally about to call a place
