A Rhetoric Analysis Of Beautiful By Christina Aguilera

For my topic my contemporary rhetoric research paper on the song “Beautiful” by Christina Aguilera. I chose to write about this song because this is a classic pop song that everyone knows that we can still relate to, or for others around us. I’ve noticed that everyone is so quick to jump in love and no one love their self-first. As I listened to this song, I was able to find many examples of pathos. The audience that I would like to connect to is our generation that is suffering from everyday struggles of relationships causing insecurities in a woman as well as to just not loving yourself. This is also for individuals that are suffering from depression, Self-acceptance as well as encouraging self-harm. I think this song stand out because being
a woman we all have faced many hardships in life where we may not once have felt like we were beautiful and I personally understand. I feel like I can relate and be able to send a message to our generation positively.
Our generation now is dealing with situations like the LGBT community and being able to legally marry one another. This song relates to our generation because its saying that no matter what race, gender, sexual orientation , they’re beautiful encouraging us to believe in ourselves and believe that everything is okay. I chose this audience mainly about me referring to women my age. This is for the young adults, modern America. The video shows diversity throughout that this is for everyone not a specific group type everyone interprets things differently. I interpreted this being as that even though I have not personally been through the same exact situation but I can apply many situations and ideas that can relate. I love knowing that I have not faced many hardships alone and that others can relate and give me advice on situations that I have no way how to handle.

This article goes to show that women are less insecure when they love their selves for who they are. Throughout this song Christina used a lot pathos and I would base this song off of an emotional setting. Christina is able to persuade us by using pathos lyrically and ethos and logos visually. This song was for Christina and her need for self-affirmation through this song. Things that dealt with the social influences of the pop culture- driven society. This would be scrutinized as a form of symbolic communication. This message is heard because pop music is popular and that allows more people to hear this song and the message more often. The
soft music and her strong voice makes the meaning stand out more. The slow paced tone allowed more depth and indulgent of the lyrics. As we know, all of us learn and process material and even knowledge over various ways. Christina’s way to get her voice heard to others was her voice and the lyrics the meaning of the whole song. “Students understand the relationship between music and other subjects on how each expresses events, emotions and ideas.” I chose this article because the artist that sang this song was abused as a child by her father, this article shows studies of early prevention and risks. You’re one of a kind and no one can take that from you. You are beautiful no matter what they say. The chorus of her song explains it all. The metaphor develops the theme and title of the song, you are more than what meets the eye. The lyrics states, “no matter what we do, no matter what we say we are the song inside tune full of beautiful mistakes. “ “In consequence, we learn to regard many aspects of our self negatively, painfully internalizing feelings of rejection we too often experienced at the hands of overly critical parents.” As children we all want to be accepted and want our parents to be proud of us their acceptance is our main goal.
If we want anyone in this world to accept us it would be our parents. That’s where we tend to beat ourselves up following the lead of our parents. This is a controller to help not beat ourselves up and become better individuals. She realized that she can become something better and that dark cloud that will always be there will not let her down for the rest of her life. There are things that can be accomplished and ways to get over situations that can creep up on you anytime. . In the song she uses pathos again,” To all your friends you’re delirious, so consumed in all your doom. Trying hard to fill emptiness. The pieces gone, left the puzzle undone. Is that the way it is?” she wanted us to pity her character. She used pathos by drawing the audience into the song emotionally like she needed us to and wanted us to, to listen to the message. She knew that this would be a subject at hand that not many others would want to come out and speak upon. You never know what someone is going through behind closed doors, even the closest people to you. She allowed this song to show others what she stands for and not only did that build up more fans but a more diverse fan group. There is a use
of symbolism, she used symbols to represent ideas and convey emotions for example the anorexic girl smashing the mirror allowing her to accept herself.
This topic made me think critically at all different topics in others shoes, see things from their view. I believe that his song was powerful the older I got and the more I understood feelings and being in love, to feeling betrayed and blaming everything on yourself because of someone’s crappy decisions. Never down yourself because someone was not happy with themselves, has misery loved company. This song was great no matter what how long ago it came out, it still makes me feel better whenever I’m down and hopefully for others that don’t find value in amongst themselves that need a refreshment on reality. This is for all of the women who love hard and face difficulty in finding love from others and not themselves. I believe that we are young and many other learn things the tough way because some can’t let go. This song was an eye opener for anyone the video touched hearts all around and I believe the message was established.
