A Steady Wilson's Poem
FROM this "Yo baby, hey woman
Hip-hop, flip-flop,
Steady half-stepping"- world…
YOU came into my life.

FROM this " Hey daddy,
Gimmie this, prove that,
How much you got, kind of world …
YOU came into my life.

When you came into my life the strife receded.
When you came into my life the joy interceded.

When you came into my life, I lost my chief gripe
When you came into my life, my destiny was suddenly ripe

With you in my life- everyday has light
With you in my life -my future is bright

With you in my life, both night and day are all right
With you in my life, even quarrels are a delight

With you in my life, God's mission is so clear
His words remove the fear because , you both are holding me dear.

With you in my life, God's promise

It was first written and presented at a wedding, with my son, Ato alternating the lines with me, then recorded with arranger-musician, Hilliard Wilson. It is included on the Just for You Cd. SENT TO YOU WITH LOVE
Today many people will open their mouths and say:
“Happy Valentine’s Day”, “Happy Anniversary”,
“Happy _____ Day”
“I love you – will you be mine?”

But today, I pray
That the women of the world the men of the world the children of the world
Will open our hearts

Open our hearts’ shutters and let our ‘little lights’ shine
Open our hearts’ trap doors and eject hurt or anger
Open our hearts’ windows and let hope beams radiate

Today we will take down our heart

How beautiful it is when two hearts can intertwine
Hold on to each others’ beats at midnight
When two souls can spend evenings clasping hands Clasping pieces of the past Clasping and cherishing treasured pieces of creative characters Clasping hope and warmth in the chill of a Parisian night

How beautiful it is when two spirits can sing
Sing songs that can be heard by fellow travelers flocked and un-flocked
Open doors, say, “Won’t you come in…we have a few treats for you.”
Close pages to an era with a gift of verse
A fond goodbye shared without shame

How beautiful it is when one or two can be gathered on one accord
Shelter others’ dreams with pictures, pen and virtual tools
Build new frameworks for old words
Make word pictures that pat, nurture, bind, and blend
Cause to find a wonderful platform
For the collective dreamers to spring forth

How beautiful it is when one has a heart to share
Your heart from autumn, to winter, through the spring
To a summer of warm harvests and languishing love
How beautiful it is that Andrea met George and
George met Andrea and they cared up a storm
May your storm seed endless love to estranged hearts everywhere

Chapter 11: ACTIVITIES For you with love that is blessed from

In the poem “Sweethearts,” by Allen Branden he describes the feelings of a young couple who have to sneak out to find time to spend with each other. The line, “Through the pale statuary and falling leaves” (2) gives the poem a setting of being in a cemetery in the autumn. Their love is so strong that they never want to be apart. The speaker is a man who is telling a story about a relationship that he was in as a teenager; he is not speaking to anyone unparticular. Through diction, symbols and tone the author explains how young love can be confusing, misunderstood, and full of emotion.…

The poem the ‘The Anniversary’ By John Donne, is a metaphysical poem about the sun itself growing older each year, this process reminds Donne that him and his lover are closer to their end. The second poem is called ‘One Flesh’, and is written by Elizabeth Jennings. In the course of this poem Jennings explores the relationship and separateness of her now elderly parents. There are multiple contrasting factors between these two poems, considering they are both written from different time periods and view love in sharply differing perspective.…

Spring is the most beautiful season of the year because the sun gleams its sparkling rays of light on the vibrantly colored blooms of the flowers smiling beneath it. Every day is a joyful and sunny day for the flowers dancing and singing happily in the fresh air outside the window. I peacefully admire their exquisite colors and positive qualities from a distance, wishing that I could be outside soaking in their joyful presence from the sunshine above. All of my day dreaming is over with. The stack of assignments on my desk aren’t magically going to do themselves. For once, I would love to have a joyful presence fill the sadness that darkens the flowers in my school. We never have hardly any joy or laughter to make us happy. Our sun is slowly…

The poem creates the theme of eternal love by using words drawn from fairytales, and multisyllabic words with a religious meaning. Additionally, images evoke loss and sadness. For example, “night” is the time when most of the events occur; the narrator gives the reader sense of a sad world. The repetition and rhyme of “Annabel Lee,” “me,” and “sea” also reinforce the tight link between the narrator, his lost love, and the sea. Finally, the ballad’s peaceful and pleasing rhythm created by anapests and iambs, “It was ma/ny and…

Love is undoubtedly one of the most frequently explored subjects in the literary world. Whether the focus is a confession of love, criticism of love, tale of love, or simply a tale about what love is, such literary pieces force readers to question the true meaning and value of love. Raymond Carver accomplishes this in his short story “What We Talk About When We Talk About Love.” As the unadorned setting and the personality of each character unfold, the reader realizes that Carver is making a grave comment on the existence of love. Carver utilizes strong contrast, imagery, and diction to ultimately suggest that love cannot be defined concretely and therefore cannot be defined in words, and because of this, it is better off unexplored.…

My life was a disaster, but since I met you I felt that you were the only one for me. You always think that you don’t suit me because you are poor and I come from a rich family, but to me that doesn’t matter because you are who you are and that’s why I love you. You bring the joy and happiness into my life and so I really hope that from now on every minute, every hour, every day you will be the light to my sunshine. Sometimes we might go through many obstacles but I know we will always be able to overcome them together. We may always fight, we may even have bad days when we don’t want to see each other and talk to each other, but as long as we have each other that’s all I really care about. So I want to ask...Will you marry…

Even though the day was not living up to my expectations, I was still having a wonderful time with my significant other. I asked if I could take his picture next to Lake Sagatagan and he, somewhat reluctantly, agreed. After snapping shots of a few different poses, Chase pointed toward a small clearing and the two of us sat down on a fallen tree trunk. I smiled as he draped his arm around my shoulders. The Stella Maris Chapel was partially obscured by golden leaves, as was the lake, and we strained to hear chatter from the distant crowds. Just as I had hoped, we managed to find a secluded spot within the congested trails of St.…

The past months have been amazing with you written on every page. If there’s anything that I could be thankful for, it’s you coming into my life in the most unpredictable way and time. Looking back to the first few months of classes, it seemed unbelievable to see us end up in this position. Despite that, I want you to know that I admire the simplest gestures you do for me and I appreciate every single one of them. I love it when you sing to me. I love it when you take my hand in yours. I love it when you kiss me goodbye. I love how you tell me I’m beautiful every day. I love the openness. And of course, I love how you make me feel. You’ve been one of the reasons I have a smile on my face. One of the reasons why I love waking up in the morning.…

Thus, comfortably seated with a pen on hand in the warm confines of my bed room, I started to pour down my thoughts into writing, quietly praying that he will be able to know, at least the extent of my emotions… Briefly written in a small parchment, I folded the paper into four and noticing how it started to our heavily outside, I pulled out my drawer and produced a red folded umbrella. Seeing the water-proof name tag, I hurriedly inserted the glossy parchment into it and then rose up from chair, sprinting out of my room to make my way to the antique book store. Despite the attention craved by the servants, I still ignored them and braved the cold weather with my red umbrella on hand.…
