A Story That Has Impacted My Life
Throughout my life, I have been told many funny, sad, and crazy family stories. I have also told a few myself. I have shared my crazy, funny, and sad stories with friends, family, and sometimes strangers. I feel as if thought the more a person shares a story the more it shows how much it has impacted their life. A story that i tend to share a lot that has impacted my life in many different way is the story of my dad’s accident. I have heard and told this story so many times from my mom and my grandmas. I will never forget this story.

The story starts on a brisk friday in October. After school that day I went to my mom's craft store and took a class form one of her co-workers. We made a bunch of fun Halloween candy crafts with little kids. As we arrived at home that night we had to park in the driveway instead of the garage because we were painting and remodeling our living room. So our couch and other furniture flood the garage. For dinner that night it was frank and beans my dads favorite. After finishing dinner that night my little sister and i went up to her room and played with polly pockets

It was unclear to us what he asked so we continued with our game. But moments later we hear a loud piercing sound of metal scraping and a loud shout of inappropriate foreign words from our dad. Then BANG the sound of the later hitting the brand new hardwood floors covered with cardboard. Something within me tells me i should go check on what's happening and to do it fast. As i leap and bound over the village of polly pocket houses i run out ot the room and out on to the landing. As look down the stairs i see something i wish i could erase from my memory. I see the 20 foot ladder no longer propped against the wall. It now lays flat on the floor and to the left of it closest to the door lay my dad with my mom kneeling at his side

It was almost 5am on July 17, 1996, when I was rushed to the hospital. I was balled up in the back seat of my mother in laws car, biting down on a towel because the pain was so unbearable. I heard him say “it’s ok baby… ” just as another jolt of pain came. As his voice faded I could feel him rubbing my back, and I tried my best to listen to his voice and forget the pain. It was impossible though, the baby was coming and there was no turning back now.…

“I’ll never become rich doing this, but it’s what I love,” she said. She refers to a woman who essentially changed my life, Corinna Sowers-Adler. A mentor, a teacher, a director, and a friend who I’ve only come to know for a little less than a year now. This refers to the wonderful world I hope to be immersed in for the rest of my life, theatre. Corinna and I were conversing on our way to Starbucks with the rest of my new theatre family, Gaslamp Academy of Performing Arts, a program I had just enrolled in for the summer. I replied with an answer I now have a better understanding for, “Well… you’re rich in so many different ways.” My family has never been rich in terms of money, we’re pretty far from it. But we’ve always been rich in things…

Throughout the past year I have endured several life changing occurances. One of my family members troubled through the treturous stages of cancer and unfortunately has passed at this time. If I have taken anything away from this, it is that family is the most important resource in a persons life. Without those people who tell you that you can, regardless of the circumstances, becoming succesful could be very challenging. After clearing my head, I was able to start thinking of a career choice that would make me enjoy going to work. I encountered an opening at a local CVS/Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician and applied. After being hired, I immediately fell in love with the surroundings, the people, the patient interaction, and the knowledge…

A big event that has changed my life was when my older brother moved away to go to the navy. This changed my life cause I did not know if I was ever going to see him again. When he told me he was leaving and not going to be back for awhile i thought he was leaving because of me, I was a little brat back then so yeah and at the age i was i thought everything was my fault. The day my brother left was probably the saddest thing to ever happen because me and him would always hang out and play video games or walk around town or do something fun. I remember when we dropped him off at the airport i was clinched on to his leg and i was refusing to let go because I didn’t want him to leave. Now that i look back on it i think one of the reasons why i didn’t want him to leave is because he was kinda like my best friend/ role model so yeah and well he is my older brother and I didn’t want anything to happen to him.…
