This is the first time that I have taken action on something. For my civil rights project, I chose to take action on the LGBT community. However, my group and I did not want to do just LGBT in general, we wanted to increase acceptance and tolerance for the LGBT community. In order to achieve this, we had to get as many LGBT perspectives as possible. We went to an LGBT Tuesday Talk at CSUN. This was a once in a lifetime experience because my group and I had the opportunity to hear others’ stories, and their opinions on tolerance and acceptance. Many of the people in the Tuesday Talk were deaf, so there was a lot of sign language. This was really amazing to experience as well because it’s a different language and I have never experienced seeing sign language in person before. We got the contact information of a few people that were at the talk and my group and I plan to contact them so we can have student panel, where student are able to ask them anything about the LGBT community. We also met a woman named Lisa. She did not mention her last name, but we plan to contact her because she was carrying with her something very interesting. She was carrying a lanyard. The purpose of the lanyard was to show that she is an LGBT supporter and to show that she is a safe person to talk to. She mentioned that it was a nationwide thing and that schools around the country had those lanyards. My group
