I was intrigued by the discussion and people sharing their life stories. It demonstrates an understanding of where they were, how they got there and where they are now. I was very surprised that people would just tell their life story and the terrible things they have done that got them to such a low point in their lives. It was fascinating to me how they would speak in front of many to reveal the low and high points in their lives. I also understand why they would go ahead and share their experiences, strength, and hopes. It is very beneficial because not only would it help that member that formed a successful recovery, it will also help encourage others as well. I am the type of person that wouldn’t open up like that so I give them a lot of praise. The meeting ended and everyone would leave with hope that would get them through the next 24 hours. After attending the meeting, I get a better understanding of what Alcoholics Anonymous. At first, I thought to myself why do we have to attend one of these meetings for class but now I can see why. Now, I see AA as a judgment free program where everyone attending is the same and can relate to each other without judgment. It is a program to get to the root of the problem and how to overcome it. It was an educational experience and I look forward to
