Abba Kovner It's Late Analysis
I really enjoyed Abba Kovner’s poem “It’s Late”, mainly because of its romantic themes and irregular syntax. The metaphors and similes used to describe his devotion to this person. My favorite line has to be starting from the last line of the second stanza, “I will spread my shirt before the first policeman’s dog who comes on time running in front of his master.” The imagery of this line is very powerful to me, additionally it represents to me an oppression that the speaker has to face from his journey. A reference to a cat is juxtaposed in the next line by showing the cat as more peaceful visual symbol. I had to look up foremost the authors name; Abba Kovner was a Jewish leader of various movements during WWII. From this I understand and

For this week’s post the poem I focused on is “Next to of course God America I” written by E. E. Cummings. E. E. Cumming is becoming my new favorite poet, I like his use of words both stylistically and for meaning, the way he makes them play together. This poem is not very forth coming with the 5w’. It’s only after reading it multiple times and looking up definitions that you start to have a slight sense of what is being illustrated. The poem is written in a way that it can carry multiple interpretations, and scenarios that make sense.…

between his toes, this line resembled the look of my cat when I was younger. That line was the deal breaker for me. It set the tone, farce, and emotion in the poem for me. The poem made me sad thinking of my old cat, but it also brought back happy memories that I had forgotten.…

The themes aspect of my visual was portrayed by the jail type bars running across the page with a Nazi swastika, airplanes and a man with his hands clenching the bars in the background. This is depicting the absolute power of bureaucracy and how Yossarian could not escape it. “These Bureaucrats think that we are expendable, when these planes fall out of the sky every day”(Heller, 183).…

    | Paraphrase) This poem starts out by introducing the speaker, which is a golden retriever. Mark Doty does this by writing about activities that dogs generally like to do, “Fetch”, “a squirrel who’s actually scared” and “sniff the wind” are all prototypical activities dogs spend their time doing. The second stanza continues this trend of articulating the dog’s various activities. But by the second line, the dog has shifted his attention towards the activities of his master. The dog is clearly disappointed by his owner’s lack of attention, and describes the owner as being “sunk in the past”.The third stanza goes deeper into the problems with the human mind. The dog is warning his owner that people spend too much time worrying about the future, and that it is up to the dog to bring the…

I remember when I first experienced goosebumps raise on my arms and send a shiver through my body, simply because the words leaving the speaker's lips left such an imprint on me. I didn’t think that a simple sentence could bring tears to my eyes, could cause me to react in any physical way. I didn’t even know the author. Yet, it still amazes me anytime I react to such a poem. The emotions that the author pours into every word and every syllable is astounding. Each pause and breath tell a story on their own. I knew that I had to try. I wanted to make people feel the way like I did when I first heard them, but because it was my words that made them react.…

Night is based on a young boy named Elie Wiesel, This book mainly talks about what he went through during the Holocaust. And how he felt through every single thing he experienced. Wiesel uses figurative language and sensory imagery throughout Night to establish his lost of faith in God through his experience during the Holocaust. Elie Wiesel uses sensory imagery and figurative language throughout the memoir Night to convey his determination and perseverance to stay alive. These techniques help Wiesel get his message across to readers by providing the audience with visual images in their head to help them fully understand the meanings and significance along with essential details throughout the memoir. My thesis statement matters, because it helps visualize Wiesel’s writing strategy, in which gets his message across to the readers.…

The narrator of Cathedral is many things; jealous, sarcastic, insensitive, inconsiderate, and overall just a bad person, he is also, surprisingly, a sympathetic character. While he exuberates many flaws and emotions that we do not readily show ourselves, this does not strike the fact that we can sympathise and relate to the narrator. In fact, it is the fact that he shows all of these flaws that make him a sympathetic character. The reason being is that he shows the emotions and flaws that humans, as a whole, want to show in any given situation, but choose not to out of compassion. Even though we do not react the same way the narrator would, it does not change the fact that often times we do feel like reacting in a similar manner that he would.…

The way that Spiegelman shows race and religion is one like no one had seen before. With the use of comics and the portrayal of each party being cats and mice, he is able to connect with a variety of readers. The Nazis are cats, and the Jews are mice. It is pretty clear to see where he is going in this connection. The symbol of these animals goes further than the physical nature though. Cats are natural enemies, who play with their prey before they attack. This could be true for what happened with the Nazis while executing the Jews. On the other side, mice are not only to be said to be a typical prey of cats, but also a nuisance in society, thus causing the Nazis to want to execute them. On all levels, Spiegelman does a stellar job with this connection, both…
