In the film version of Hamlet (1996), the movie overall is very entertaining and even though it is lengthy, the movie gives every detail needed in order for the viewer to understand, which makes the movie entertaining regardless of how long it is. The setting of the movie seems to me that it is on a different era than previous movies have portraited as well as the setting many readers would imagine, but Hamlet never specifies during the play the exact era where Hamlet develops so the story could be adapted to any era. One difference that I found between the movie and the play is that Hamlet is a weak character in the movie, he does not show as much inner conflict as he does in the play which give the impression that Hamlet is not capable and even not very smart in the movie compared to the book. By mentioning that Hamlet does not seem capable during the movie, it is because Hamlets shows signs of being ready for his tragic end but at the same time he seems to be much more smart since the madness shown in the movie seems more like a prop than the actual madness shown in the play. In my opinion, the movie gives a better imagery of abnormal psychology just because the audience is seeing the play being performed and not just
