The agricultural aspects of the Indigenous Australians were a major contributing factor that pointed towards their civilised lives. The men would be the hunters of large animals and birds. Many men would co-operate together to catch emus and kangaroos.
To further prove that the Aboriginals were civilised, Major Thomas Mitchell who was a surveyor and explorer of south-eastern Australia, described what he saw as he crossed the Australian frontier. He described:
“The grass is pulled and piled into hayricks, later the seed is made by the natives into a kind of paste or bread. Dry heaps of this grass, that has been pulled expressly for this purpose of gathering seeds, lay along our paths for many miles”.
This quote proves that the Aboriginals were organised. The quote also shows that the Aboriginals had a sustainable source of food.
