When the play starts, Lena, the sixty-year-old single mother of two kids Beneatha and Walter. Lena is the head of the family and she’s waiting for a $10,000 insurance check from the death of her husband. Everyone in the family is excited to spend that money in their particular ways. Walter wants the money to invest for a liquor store and Beneatha wants that money for her future studies.Whereas Lena wants to eliminate their major issue was their small house so, she wants to buy a new house.
