According To Oprah Winfrey's Definition Of Luck
Oprah Winfrey once stated, "Luck is a matter of preparation meeting opportunity," meaning that luck is not the random chances in life but precise preparation and opportunity joining to make a successful or failed event. Analyzing this quote, one might find that luck is not what people need to believe in but hard work and determination should be one's motivation.

Starting with the meaning of luck, it is something that happens to a person by chance with no planning. From just right there one can agree to Oprah Winfrey's statement because she states that luck involves planning for the right moment not to chance. For example, an individual is working for a company. He or she starts at the bottom of the ladder but instead of leaving luck to help

    Luck is something that almost everyone experiences. To experience it more, however, one must work harder.     I for one find myself disagreeing with Mr. Milton. As opposed to how it was hundreds of years ago, luck is a different concept in today’s time. Today, luck is a concept that can only be applied to the top one percent also known as the wealthiest people of America. People in the middle and working classes all work for the opportunities that they are given; luck has no determination on who gets what. In my personal experience, my family has had to work for everything that we own, and we have never seen “luck” in effect. I fully understand what Mr. Milton was trying to say, and he is not wrong entirely. Milton believed that when a plan is designed well enough luck comes out of the planning, and everything falls into place. However, not everything will fall perfectly into place every time. Things will fall through and fail, and you have no choice but to pick yourself back up and keep pushing through the obstacles. I have observed over the past couple of years that people have become too dependent on luck for results instead of working for them.     In Meditations on First Philosophy Descartes attempts to explain the cause of errors in human beings. Descartes says that error occurs "since the will extends further than the intellect" (Descartes p.39).
