Achieving Individual Excellence

Individual excellence is pushing yourself to surpass other’s expectations and excel in everything you do. Individual traits, ethics, values, experiences, and individual performance help develop and define a person’s individual excellence on a personal and professional level. Individual excellence will lead a person to be a better leader, manager, supervisor, and a better person in any organization. In this paper I will formulate a framework for achieving individual excellence as I focus on my ultimate goal of going into the human services field. This paper will examine a force analysis that lists my personal drives as well as restraining forces in each of the following human services aspects: managing the environment, planning, and program design, organizational design, human resource development, supervision, financial management, information systems, program evaluations, and leadership and organizational change. This paper also examines each of Peter Senge’s Five Disciplines, the meaning and a self-assessment of the five disciplines. Force Analysis Managing the environment means an individual is able to monitor trends in the environment constantly, from local, to state levels, to sometimes global level (Lewis & Lewis, 2007). Because I am currently working in the human services field, I will use my personal life experiences as references. I have worked in the human service field for 26 years and had to work in different departments with different people and with different objectives. I believe that I do well with change and new situations. I believe I am a very observant person and like to ask questions so that I can understand the importance of the objective. Another quality I possess is the ability to work well with others and bring new ideas to the organization. A problem I may have it that even though I can adapt well
