Dulce Rosa in the short story, lives in a small town of the villages, everything that happened in her life took place where she was born and raised (p.3-p.10). At the time, Dulce lives in civilian and soldiers war which Tadeo Cespedes was one of the man who avoid living in peace. He battled cross country to gain power and take controlled over to become the leadership for his own lust, who also caused Dulce father’s life. Although in the movie, according to Yenne, it was film in the time of peaceful with no country or civilian war involved. Frank Valera and his family had moved to a city in Bulgaria, Europe because of his job, and where fatal also happened caused his wife and daughters’ life. Both characters, Dulce Rosa Orellano and Frank Valera have the same burden and to complete the mission of having vengeance for the love ones that were murdered. In the way, they did complete their mission but not in the way they were desire planned. Unexpectedly, Dulce Rosa fell in love with the man that had changed from a drunker, and violent soldier to a powerful man with respect and controls justice, who also murdered her father and raped her 30 years ago. Dulce Rosa ended her own life of the shame that she could not keep the promise to her father, at the same time she does not harm the man she was in love, and leaving Tadeo living in the rest of his life miserable. Frank also completed the mission revenge for his wife and daughter but in the different way of his action. As a lawyer, Frank trusted the law and the justice fairly service, but in the case of his wife and daughter he was disappointed and his beliefs had gone different direction. With faith, a book title “Meditation” had lead and guild him to the right direction again. Frank found the killer and wanted to kill him but decided to let justice handle and punished the criminal, because he remembered the quote in the book said, “The best revenge is to be unlike your enemy,” killing his enemy will bring more revenge in the future.
