When World War I was sparked by the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand, Hitler developed a strong passion against foreigners. He became patriotic and enlisted himself in the Bavarian army (“Adolf Hitler’s Rise to Power”). Hitler received two Iron Crosses for his bravery. Soon after the war, Hitler was recruited to join a military intelligence unit and was assigned to keep records on the German Worker’s Party. The party was disorganized.
