Adolf Hitler was born on April 20, 1889 in Braunau am Inn, Austria. He was born out of wedlock to Maria Anna Schicklgruber in 1837. He was given the name Alois Schicklgruber at birth. He changed his name in 1876 to Adolf Hitler. Adolf was the fourth of six children. Edmund, Adolf’s youngest brother died in 1900. Hitler became detached and introverted after his brother’s death. There is no father’s name on his birth certificate. His mother died in 1907 of Breast Cancer. He then decided to then move to Vienna to become a casual laborer and watercolor painter. Hitler’s original goal was to become a world-renowned artist, but he lacked the talent to succeed. He applied to the Academy of Fine arts twice and was rejected both times. Adolf then decided to remain in Vienna, attempting to make a living as an artist. When Hitler lived in Vienna, he was exposed to anti-Semitic pamphlets and other writings about Jewish inferiority and Aryan superiority. Hitler adopted many of these ideas as the basis of his own racist theories. He grew to hate the Jewish community.
