Advantages And Disadvantages Of The American Civil War
The American Civil war was a long, drawn out conflict, which acted as the climax for the 19th century. Between April 12th of 1861 to May 9th of 1865 - 5 whole years - The union, led by Abraham Lincoln fought the Confederates, led by Jefferson Davis. The Union eventually won the war by more or less starving the confederates. Nicknamed “the anaconda plan” the Union blockaded Confederate ports to hinder trade as well as keep their navy in check. Next, the Union took the Mississippi river in order to split the confederate states in half thereby ending needed communication between states. Last of all and also the most difficult was to take out Richmond, the Confederate capital. The Confederate army had many disadvantages, and Davis knew that the
