Everyone has to face challenges, but not many confront it. Whether they are young or old, rich or poor, the struggle of a challenge can vary. In the biographical sports drama titled The Blind Side directed by John Lee Hancock, the protagonist Michael Oher faces countless challenges and difficulties and attempts to address them. As the film progresses, the director continuously exposes the viewer to Michael’s character along with the predicaments he faces. When coming to confront these challenges doing so alone may be tiresome which is why a loved by your side makes it easier. When Michael was a young boy, he was taken away from his mother by child services, then separated from his brother. Every time Michael got placed with a new family he would leave and go back to his mother causing them to deem him a “runner.” Michael would always return to his mother because that was what he felt was right. Even as a child he would be patient with his mother even when she would resort to drug use. At first, Michael would scream and cry when they took him away then he would be sent to a different family but still he would go back home because that was where his mama was. Eventually he had to live on his own and she wouldn't be anywhere in sight but he would still look for her and take care of her and protect her. When Leigh Ann was asking Michael about his mother he simply said, “She probably moved to a nicer place.” He said this to protect her from people's judgment of her and her image.
