Stubblefield began her career as a home health nurse. After many years of volunteering at fundraisers and seeing too many lives destroyed by domestic violence, she applied and began working as a court advocate in McMinnville as well as surrounding counties. When the former director announced retirement, Mrs. Stubblefield saw this as an opportunity to advance with the organization. The former director mentored Mrs. Stubblefield and when the time came she gladly took on the responsibility. When asked about the most rewarding aspect of her work, Mrs. Stubblefield talked about seeing the women break the cycle of domestic violence and become independent women. Watching the women grow and venture out on their own, achieving dreams they never would have otherwise had the courage to pursue is one of the most rewarding aspects. She knew what she was up against when she took on the role but the challenge of excelling and making a difference in the lives of the women in her community outweighed any fear or apprehension she felt about failure. The support of the volunteers, community supporters, and employees made the smooth transition between directors successful.
