Anne and her friends went to the movies and Anne was not allowed to enter the White section. From a young age Anne was victim to segregation and understood that everyone wasn't treated the same by skin color.
Education played a big part in the civil rights movement.
In the mid-twenties many African Americans weren't educated. The reason they weren't educated was because the whites did not give them the full capability to do so. During this time African Americans were kept ill-educated so that they would know their place in the world. The introduction to Jim Crow laws posed a big threat to African Americans in the south. The reason being because blacks and whites were separated from each other and one would be more privileged and more educated because of the school and teachers they had. While Anne went to school she found many problems just going to school.
Many students weren't like Anne, Anne was athletic, smart and was interacted with activities all around school. When Anne was in high-school she was curious both the different groups that fight for African American rights. Anne heard her bones once and was very nosey into finding out what it was. The group she had discovered was NAACP, at first Anne went her mom to find out what the group was about, but her mother refused to tell her. Anne wasn't discouraged about that and went to her teacher(Mrs.Rice), she explained the situation and the movement that was taking place to her and later was terminated from her position.In the case of the educational institutions promoting racial and social change most were completely against it. Another situation that took place is when a man named Samuel O’Quinn was shot because he was a member of NCAAP and was told on by a Principle(Principle Willis) at Anne’s
school.
