help towards winning the fight against racism.
Different scholars have different solutions for racism.
Some focus on the importance of education and diversity for changing the culture of racism. Others point to legal reforms as a way to make it easier to challenge acts of discrimination or institutional racism. A third group argues for more significant social change aimed at repairing the effects of past discrimination. There are some people who believe that racism has become such an integral part of the structure of American society that it cannot be
removed.
What I believe that in order to root-out racism, Whites have to acknowledge that what their ancestors did was more than just subjugation for the purposes of free labor, but was in effect the systemic and government sanctioned. As a result the people had to create an entirely new culture because the old was systematically destroyed. Therefore, now it is the time to change their mentality of superiority and create harmony in society. Moreover, people of color have to begin to believe in their own self worth and their ability to solve the problems in their communities themselves and stop looking to whites to blame for their issues and simultaneously turn to them for help. This is a slave mentality. If white Americans show more understanding and accept the systemic, physical, and psychological brutality of American history with respect to people of color and people of color reject dependency in favor of self reliance and believe in themselves then the result will be the post racist society that doctor King and other civil rights leaders imagined.
