“If you don't speak out and you don't clear your mind, then who are you?” Ai WeiWei’s political involvement became very personal. WeiWei developed a strong internet from what many would consider the average Chinese, such waiters and waitresses. WeiWei became the people’s voice by speaking up for them. The Chinese culture is commonly more passive with their words and speaking out against the government. Noone would openly curse the Chinese society, that is looked upon as blasphemy, but WeiWei would reprimand them by disclosing the society’s dark side.
