Introduction and background
In the year of 2006 Al Jazeera English Network (sister channel of the Arabic-language Al Jazeera) was launched on November 15 and quickly became viral.
“Is the world’s first global English language news channel to be headquartered in the Middle East” with headquartered in Doha, Qatar but also rotates around broadcasting centers in London and Washington D.C. It reaches around 40 million households, target expended since the lunch, now approximately to 80 million homes, around 130 million households worldwide. It has also agreed to provide online steaming (often free of charge) via different website, for everyone with a connection to the Internet. The news channel broadcast news feature and analysis, documentaries, live debates, current affairs, business, technology, and sports and offers 24-hour international news.
AJE’ Operates in 25 bureaus worldwide and it is referred to as “the voice of the South”, as in symbolical meaning, and not geographical terms.
“The ‘South’ here is not meant to be geographical. It is symbolic. It is a lifestyle because in the West, you have a lot of South as well. In Britain, you have south. In Europe, you have south. The South denotes the voiceless in general” declares AJE’s manager with a target to be “voice of the voiceless “said Scott Furgeson, AJE’s director of programming.
First launched, Al Jazeera Channel had been subject for many in terms of speculation, fantasy and rumor in non-Arabic speaking societies. The main task of AJE’s is to eliminate these rumors for people outside the Arabic world.
