Global Warming: Which are you Alarmist or Denier?
The debate between whether global climate warming is due to manmade causes or natural ones is an ongoing socio economic and political debate.

This paper will give supporting scientific evidence to both sides of this debate and conclude with my personal opinion and standpoint on this issue.

Pg. 1.

Global warming caused by human production of greenhouse gases result in an increase of the earths average surface temperature due to these high levels rising of greenhouse gases. The global warming climate is an ongoing political and socioeconomic debate that we have been in for years and years. There are two stand points to this issue. The two parties involved are the “Alarmists” and the “Deniers”. The Alarmists believe humans are the main source of global warming and if we do not do something about it we will eventually cause the destruction of earth. The deniers state that while yes humans do create some greenhouse gases it is not enough to cause the destruction of earth. Which side of this argument are you on? To help me decide which stand point
I have chosen I have done research on this topic as well as both sides of beliefs. Here are some scientific evidence that support each side of this debate.

The IPCC is mentioned in one of my evidential support ideas so you need to know that IPCC stands for
Intergovernmental panel on climate change. This organization was formed in 1988 by the World Meteorological
Organization (WMO) and the United Nations Environment Programed (UNEP) to provide a comprehensive

2) The IPCC quotes climate sensitivity numbers (the degrees c per doubling of CO2 which is Carbon dioxide

concentrations) in the 3.5 range. These numbers imply that given the amount of CO2 we have provided

in the past, we should have already seen about 1.5-2.5 c of warming. In actuality we have seen about

0.7 c and all that is probably not likely due to CO2.

3) A Yale study states that more scientifically literate Americans are less frightened of climate change than

their low informative neighbors.

4) Naturally occurring disasters cause a greater and more damaging effect on the earth’s climate than

anything else.

Scientific evidence supporting that global warming is caused by humans….. Pg.2
1) Burning fossil fuels like petroleum and coal produce carbon dioxide by products which emit

Glaciers are melting, sea levels are rising, forests are drying and wildlife is suffering, these are all results of the apparent rise in global temperatures and it has become more obvious that humans over centuries are releasing harmful heat-trapping gases into the atmosphere known as greenhouse gases. The greenhouse effect causes the increase in global temperature as the gases which are released into the atmosphere allow light to be entered, but prevents heat from escaping.…

Along with many other problems, global warming has become one of the top issues in the world. As the consequence of emitting carbon dioxide, the world’s temperature has risen from the past. Despite the fact that there is statistical evidence, there have been controversies as in how much effort should be put in to solve the issue of global warming.…

Consider greenhouse gases--those carbon dioxides and methane that trap escaping heat and raise the earth's temperature. Many experts say the accumulation of greenhouse gases in the upper atmosphere could lead, in two short generations, to a global warming that will have catastrophic effects--expanding deserts, flooded coastal areas, loss of species and genetic diversity and massive dislocations…

Global Warming has become a major issue in our environment within the last couple of years. Why should we care about that though when we have our own little set of problems to worry about? Maybe because an increase in temperatures can cause a rise in sea level, an increase in the intensity of already extreme weather events, and considerable changes to the amount and pattern of precipitation. All of this may lead to a vast space of tropical areas and will increase the speed of desertification. The more we look into how global warming we think “What is the cause of it all?” Many have thrown around ideas about what they think the cause might be but no need to throw anymore because new evidence has shown that we are the cause of Global Warming.…

Global Warming Is Natural, Not Man-Made by Anthony Lupo (NAPSA)—One of the fundamental tenets of our justice system is one is innocent until proven guilty. While that doesn’t apply to scientific discovery, in the global warming debate the prevailing attitude is that human induced global warming is already a fact of life and it is The up to d o u b t e r s t o Global p…

First, we have global warming, which is a problem that must be solved as soon as possible. Some ignorant people think that it won’t happen but we are actually living this situation right now, every single day. According to some NASA studies, since 1950, the average temperature has climbed 1.4Fahrenheit degrees around the world. As a consequence of this fact, an Arctic ice area, which was bigger than the United States, has melted this year! Another evidence of global warning is that the frequency and number of hurricanes and earthquakes around the world has increased the last years. The irony of all this is that even though we do realize what is happening; even though we know that we are destroying our planet, we are still polluting, wasting and damaging.…

The earth has been around for billions of years and many issues in our time as a species have risen up. One matter that has come up is the issue of global warming or climate change. This conflict has been around for many years, but has started to get worse every year, since the United States and other countries have been emitting carbon dioxide into the earth’s atmosphere. Global warming is an urgent issue; moreover, there exists a controversy on whether humanity or nature is the cause, and the scientists who consider this a serious matter are entirely correct because humans are at fault.…

Many chemical compounds found in the Earth’s atmosphere act as “greenhouse gases.” These gases allow sunlight to enter the atmosphere freely. When sunlight strikes the Earth’s surface, some of it is reflected back towards space as infrared radiation (heat). Greenhouse gases absorb this infrared radiation and trap the heat in the atmosphere. Over time, the amount of energy sent from the sun to the Earth’s surface should be about the same as the amount of energy radiated back into space, leaving the temperature of the Earth’s surface roughly constant. Greenhouse gases greatly affect the temperature of the Earth. Without them, Earth's surface would average about 33°C colder than the present average of 14 °C (57 °F). However, due to certain human activities, there is an increase in the amount of greenhouse gases causing the earth to “warm” but we will talk about that later.…

The Earth has a natural greenhouse effect where certain gases (known as greenhouse gases) in the atmosphere allow the sunlight to enter but absorb the heat radiation. Because these gases absorb the heat, they keep the average surface temperature on Earth around 14°C. Without the natural greenhouse effect, the Earth’s average surface temperature would be around -19°C (US EPA). Without the greenhouse gasses being absorbed by Earth, the temperature of our planet would rise, creating change in our atmosphere. It would change the living conditions of humans, animals, and plants, which would then have an impact on Earth itself.…

In the past 100 years, the temperature of our Earth has increased by about 4.5 degrees (Guggenheim). This may not seem like a lot, but on a global scale, it can have a huge impact. Global Warming is a serious problem, and it should be taken very seriously. Unless we take action now, we will have major consequences to deal with later on. These include, but are certainly not limited to, extreme weather, a decline in polar life, and effects on human health. It seems like Global Warming has become such a political issue that people tend to take a side based solely on the political party they support. This needs to stop. No matter where you fall on the political spectrum, you cannot ignore the facts. The temperature of our atmosphere has been increasing at an alarming rate in recent years. Global warming is happening, and action needs to be taken to stop it, no exceptions.…
