All About Eve Themes
The film 'All About Eve' directed by Joseph Mankiewicz explores the long-established traditions of 'show biz' and the drama that happens both on the stage, backstage and behind the scenes. The film is both a celebration of the theatre and opinion of the more negative elements - self-image/snobbiness, desire to do great things and the cruel pursuit of fame. Margo Channing is the main character of 'All About Eve', she is a famous stage actress. Close friends with Karen Richards, Margo's closest friend and friend. And romantically involved with Bill Sampson a rising director of both theatre and film, and offers Eve Harrington a job and a place to stay. Her hospitality towards Eve Harrington is just one of the ways in which film-maker Joseph Mankiewicz encourage us to importance and focuse with Margo Channing in spite of her flaws.

She is brilliant and gifted. Margo can be snobby, (something that must be obeyed and not questioned) or bitter, depending on her mood. (looking at things in the opposite way), with close friends, she demonstrates a loud and aggressive, even self-deprecating sense of humour and in spite of her worldly distrusting and suspicious attitude, she can also be emotional and soft-hearted.
