All My Life Items Analysis
After viewing several All My Life items and descriptions from John Freyer’s sale listings, the item I chose to compare with other EBay listings was his “Road Trip Cooler tag #000154”. I found a similar item on EBay, the 36 quart Marine Performance Cooler that was slightly used. The similarities are both items are being sold from everyday people. These items are things that you can get the items for a better and cheaper price than an actual store. Both items being auctioned has a description of the item. It also include a picture of the item they were trying to sell. The difference between the two are obvious when you read a description. The Road Trip Cooler, the description is more of a story. The EBay item describes the item itself.
The “Road Trip Cooler” was an old personal cooler that had been well used by John Freyer years ago on road trips. His description of this item is definitely subjective. The item the author listed doesn’t give any actual information on his description, like the brand, name, or size of the cooler. He talks more about the road trips he took with the cooler than about the cooler itself. He talks about the memories the

The seller of the Road Trip Cooler was selling the stories behind it, not just the item itself. People are not just purchasing the cooler; People are purchasing a prop to an adventure someone had taken. An example, the author described how the cooler helped him drive long distance without stopping and how it was filled with cold drinks which got him through the summers because he didn’t have air conditioning in his car. The EBay item, on the other hand, the objective of the listing or ad was to sell the item at hand. It gave the consumers an opportunity to inform and excite buyers by providing a clear picture of the item, and specific, accurate details to increase chances that buyers will find and bid on or buy the item. The objective of the ad was to sell the item at

The advertisement states “all we sell is the greatest feeling on earth”. However appealing that may sound it is really an empty claim as it is only implied as to what gives that feeling. These words are used to encapsulate the feeling of greatness that will be provided by buying a product from guitar center. It is also noticeable that the letters for the line “all we sell is the” are smaller than the letters for the line “greatest feeling on Earth”. The advertisement is trying to pull attention towards that line because the idea of feeling good is a hook. Guitar Center does not sell feelings, they sell guitars and accessories. This line also is an example of material possessions being valued so highly in society. The ad slightly mentions that the greatest feeling that could be had is from a material possession. Thinking of getting a great feeling from a store is a good claim however it is an empty claim as all they really sell are…

    • A refrigerator car or "reefer" is a refrigerated boxcar, designed to carry perishable freight at specific temperatures. They can be ice-cooled, or use one of a variety of mechanical refrigeration systems, or utilize carbon dioxide as a cooling agent. In the 1860s, slaughtered cattle from the Great Plains were preserved in barrels of salt. Regular box cars were loaded with ice in another effort to preserve fresh meat that had limited success. Generally, it was found more economical in the early days of refrigeration to cool the cars with ice or frozen brine which was periodically replenished at icing stations along rail routes. In 1857, the first shipment of refrigerated beef was made from the Chicago stockyards to the East Coast in an ordinary box car packed with ice.…

The decision to go to drug rehabilitation for most people is either forced upon them by the law, family, or ultimatums. It can be assumed that those addicts will be the least successful in their journey through recovery. However, another smaller percentage of addicts want to recover from their addiction because it is their choice to change their life style and better themselves. It can be assumed that their desire to recover will lead them to become the most successful patients. In A Million Little Pieces by James Frey, James faced the same dilemma: Does he really want to get better or does he want to drown himself in drugs? Throughout the memoir, James struggles to come to a conclusion while facing demons from his past that were waiting for him when he became sober. Not only did he have to deal with his past but he also had to deal with other addicts who frankly did not want to be in rehab. Another part of rehabilitation that was difficult for James was following the structure of the 12 Steps program which was adopted by the rehabilitation center. As James saw it, by adopting the 12 Step program he was simply replacing one addiction for another. There were also aspects of the 12 Steps that James disagreed with and refused to follow. He saw himself as being the exception to the rule and intended to get through rehabilitation on his own terms. Once he was released from rehab, James tested himself. This test consisted of him going to a bar, having the bar keep pour him a large glass of whiskey, and tempting himself.…

As children, most people see the world as a place where no evil exists. In Robert McCammon's Boy's Life, Cory Mackenson realizes that one can find evil in the most unlikely places and says "The truth of life is that every year we get further from the essence that is born within us…life itself does its best to take that memory of magic away from us. You [do not] know [it is] happening until one day you feel [you have] lost something but [you are] not sure what it is." By using symbolism and irony, the author conveys that the experiences one goes through ruin one's way of viewing a seemingly ideal world.…

Well, no, I do not agree because when I think of five major life events, I think of events that are very important and need to be well planned. I agree with Getting Married, and having children as major life events, but I do not think that buying a car or a house or owning a business as a major life event. The reason being is that there are some people in this world who never buy a car since they do not drive. The majority of people will never own a business and while most will buy a house, not everyone buys a house. Major life events to me are events that will happen throughout the continuum of my life, that includes when I get old and need to retire. These events need to be planned and well thought out. To me the major events happen through…
