Allegory In Poe's The Masque Of The Red Death

The hidden message in Poe's "The Masque of the Red Death" is that each room represents a stage of human life. The first piece of evidence that the allegory of the story is human life is the room colors are from lightest to darkest, just like life is from beginning to end. Lightest being the first stage of life and darkest being the last stage of life. The blue room is the first room which would represent birth and the first coming into the world. Purple, a combination of two colors represent the beginning of growth. Green would be the cycle of youth. Orange would be the two different seasons of life. White represents age, when you are half way through your life span. Violet, a mixture of blue and purple would represent darkness.
And last but not least, black represents death. The Red Death walks through the blue room to the black room which is the whole course of life leading from birth to death. Prospero walks the same course as the Red Death and in result he died when he reached the black room. His followers rushed into the black room to try and unmask the Red Death, but they also ended up dying. They all went through the course of life and ended up dying at the end. The big clock is located in the black room. It's a symbol of death. As people say "time flies" and that "life can flash right before your eyes", the clock chimes every hour to indicate that their lives are passing by the hour and that the time of death is coming closer. The clock creates a more powerful effect about it. Every time the clock chimes, the people freeze, the music stops, and they just stand there nervously. The Red Death is a symbol of death and shows that it can't be escaped. Just like Prospero's attempt to avoid death didn't go as planned. Life is a long cycle, but when it comes to an end, that's it. A person can only try to escape death for so long, but there is no possible way for the cycle to continue on.
