After a brief eternity, as if God himself had been at the most present transaction of life's very essence being passed on to the next plane, the man with a shotgun appears. After a brief testing of the waters, the boy decides that this is for him. They just stared at him, with hungry eyes, those the boy has seen before. But he thinks nothing of it because as quick as the thought came it had vanished and replaced itself like every other thought had on that day. Still very emotionally trapped in the earlier events of that day. Besides these unassuming inconspicuous interactions, the group went on. They assured the boy they were in control of a safe house of sorts close by to their current location. As if it had tried to turn around and run away itself. He thought he must be imagining things. It must be too good to be true though, a fairly well conditioned cabin appeared behind the tree line as if it was veiled by some magical barrier and kept hidden from all those not in the exact location he was coming from and facing to. Convinced that it was merely the unfamiliar woods and the social tension amongst this family making him feel out of sorts. He pressed onward. It began drizzling as the party approached the house. Everyone hurried to the front and just as the kids are about to open the front door their father cuts in front of them in an incredibly brash manner. As if a stage direction had been given, right on cue, the sky lights up with a crackle of lightning followed with a resounding boom of thunder that always follows. “Now I know you guys are hungry, but remember our guests come first. Now sorry little one but this door is jammed could you help me out back to open the cellar door? The kids and their mother have been feeling under the weather lately ha, ha. Well anyways me and you can get into the basement from back there and get up into the rest of the house without the need to break the front door wide open and leave us vulnerable. Then once we get inside we can figure out what's the issue with this door and unjam it from the inside. Sound good,

After giving the pile of old tree limbs she was pointing at a good second stare I saw it. There was a roof slightly sticking up from a mass of brush. I had lived right up the hill from this location for 9 years and had been down to the camp dozens of times, but never have I ever noticed this small roof that was roughly 100 meters away from the camp. We sprinted on through the scraggly brush, being pulled back on by plenty of branches and jumping over small creeks. We stopped dead in our tracks after what felt like hours of sprinting and adjusted to the spontaneous sight that was in front of us, sending my eyes into…
