In my opinion, though, I think the legalizing is long overdue for the LGBT community, since the US claims to be a free country. I say the couples should be allowed to do what they want. Even if it is a controversial subject, there isn’t any harm in it, and the gay community can feel more accepted now. They have the rights to be able to love who they want.

She admits that she might be avoiding the bigger issue. Their daughter was already exposed to having a fellow classmate with two mothers. However, she went over it with her husband, the two coming to agreement on giving a quick and simple answer. By her tone, she obviously is aware that there are multiple unanswered questions, each one raising a new line of controversies. She and her husband explained to their inquiring daughter that they agree that their way is best for their family, while Sam’s parents think their way is best for their family.
