Whenever you have a goal that you want to achieve, you tend to do anything you can to reach it. Maybe you want to get better grades, be healthier or just become a better version of yourself. Some people say you use your ambition, determination and courage to reach those goals; anything you can do and nothing getting in your way to reach your goal. In one word, this is called “grit”, and grit gives you the ability to strive to achieve your goals, become successful and make yourself in the best version that it can possibly be. Without grit, you wouldn’t be the individual that you are today. Studies have shown that grit is what gives us perseverance and ambition to complete our long term goals. In April 2004, a study was conducted and it started all on a website. It was first for people to come to validate the Grit Scale.Most of the people who did this were between ages 25 to 65 years old and older. There was a questionnaire for people to decide to agree or strongly agree. In the results of this study states “More educated adults were higher in grit than were less educated adults of equal age” (Grit Duckworth 1091). Therefore, they concluded that even though an individual is older or younger when they had a set goal they had grit to finish it. If the individual was younger they had multiple goals set for their future. As for the older individual they had more life experience and had most of their long-term goals achieved.
