Christopher Reeve once said, “A hero is an ordinary individual who finds the strength to persevere and endure in spite of overwhelming obstacles.” Many people in this world who we consider “heroes” started just like any average kid. They were not born heroes or with special talents. They just have the willingness and determination to succeed and fight their way around obstacles. That is what I see everyday from my brother. He is just a normal person, but whether he is studying or doing his job he excels at it. He knows that if he just sits there and worries he won’t succeed in anything. This is why I look at him as my Personal Michigan Hero and why others should as well. One laudable characteristic of my brother is he is caring. On one occasion, we were in Miami on a delightful day. We rented a jet ski for an hour. After about half an hour we tried to make a tight turn but it was too tight. The Jet Ski capsized and faster than we realized it, we were swimming in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. My brother was the first to react and started chasing the Jet Ski as it was roaming off. When he finally stopped it, he could have just gone and left me. Instead he brought it towards me and helped me on. At the time it didn’t seem like a big thing but that could’ve been the difference between life and death. Another quality my brother has that is worthy of praise is that he is hard working. He is always studying, working, or doing any necessary tasks. I never see him in his

Heroes are unbelievable! How does someone become a hero? Heroes that fly and battle crime are not actual heroes. Real heroes are people who do something heroic, unusual, or important. Heroes are people who take risks. Heroes prospect their life to do something good for us. They save us when we are in trouble, pick us up when we are down, and give us hope. They also solve problems, distribute justice, make a positive difference in the world. Harriet Tubman and Elizabeth Blackwell are heroes. These people took risks and did important things.…

A hero can make a difference in a small, medium, or large way. Some say that you can’t be a hero until you do a difficult or large task to prove that you are one. The truth is, the world is filled with heroes who became one by one simple task. Like your parents, city workers, or many other citizens. People aren’t doing the good to help themselves, there doing it for the person they are helping. It seems as if the word hero is thrown out into our everyday vocabulary. Almost as if someone everyday becomes a hero. Hitting a homerun, Scoring the winning touchdown, or taking down your high school prom queen does not deserve recognition as a hero. It’s not something that happens merely overnight.…

“There goes my hero, watch him as he goes! There goes my hero, he's ordinary!” (Foo Fighters) Heroes are average, ordinary people with an extraordinary heart for others; heroes can be conditioned and shaped. This quality exemplifies the fact that anyone can be truly heroic. Being formed by training, I believe hero's are shaped by the following: practice, hard work, and a militarized state of mind.…

Gerard Way once said, "Heroes are ordinary people who make themselves extraordinary." In other words, one has to make themselves a hero. No one needs to be born with magnificent strength or the audacity to stand up to any bully that might come their way. Heroism is self built. To be heroic is to be passionate, to believe in the greater good, and to live without hate.…

Heroism and heroes are two things that no matter what, will always be around, people will always admire heroes, and wish they could be them. While there is an endless supply of heroes from the beginning of time, there are only a few definitions, yet over time that definition has changed to an extent. Dictionary.reference.com defines hero as: “A man of distinguished courage of ability, admired for his brave deeds and noble qualities.” Campbell’s definition, “someone who has given his or her life to something bigger than oneself… The hero performs a courageous act in battle and saves lives,” varies quite a bit from the twenty first century definition. In both Joseph Campbell’s definition and dictionary.com’s definition, several characteristics of heroes are laid out before us: courageousness, dedication, and selflessness. These can be considered the three pillars of heroism; these characteristics add character and depth to a hero, other than somebody who performed a glorious act. Courage, the biggest pillar, are the building blocks of a hero, without courage, you simply cannot be an admired hero. Courage allows you…

    Hero Definition Essay

The definition of a hero is a relatively simple one; a hero is someone who positively impacts others through their actions and accomplishments. While we all have different views on who exactly we see as a hero, there are certain individuals, such as Martin Luther King Jr. and Abraham Lincoln, who have undeniably changed the world and fit this definition. I have found that many of the individuals who society, and I personally, view as great heroes, share a certain set of traits that almost definitely had a large part in their accomplishments. This is why I believe that bravery, selflessness, and determination are three vital traits when it comes to defining what it means to be a hero.…

Heroes don’t just save peoples’ lives, they do other things to help people and that’s what makes them stand out from the rest of us. A hero is defined as many things. While many people consider heroes to be larger than life figured, Christopher Reeves says that, "A hero is an ordinary person, who preserves, and endures despite overwhelming challenges". This quote analyzes an unconventional definition of a hero from Christopher Reeve's point of view. What truly makes a hero is the courage to say that, it is not one, which is the hero it is someone else. Someone else that fought and worked hard for the position to be called a hero, because he/she gave up and put everything in risk for the greater good. This can be from a dearest mother to an American soldier.…
