American Revolution Dbq Analysis

The American Revolution was the start to United States as a country. It was the fisrt time in American history where people stood side by sign against a common enemy. Everything was touched starting from slavery to women's rights, from religious life to political life. After the war everything completed change between 1775-1800 politically, socially, and economically. The first thing that the American citizen did after the American Revolution was establish a government. They wanted a flawless system in which absolute power could exist. First the Articles of confederation were decided on. The ideas that made up the Articles of Confederation ended p turning the founders' dream of a functioning government into somewhat of a nightmare.
The federal governments had no authority to tax citizens, and there was no executive branch. This caused many issued as stated in Document 7 the letter from Abigail Adams to Thomas Jefferson. The letter stated the chaos surrounding the post Revolutionary era. The purpose of the letter was to states her disppointment in the behavior of some of its inhabitants. The Article of Confederation was taken away and the constitution soon toke its place. As the constitution was begin created different opinions arose. As stated in document 9 were James Madison in the Federalist paper stated The structure of the Government must furnish the Proper Checks and Balances between the different Departments. These belivers were federalist who supported a strong central government while the anti belives that the power should go the the people. These ideas are still going on today where republicans follows the constitution word for words and deocrats belives that their should be room for interpreations. Many social changes also took place after the American Revolution.
American lived in a world were men was always the most dominated. during the coming of the revolution hope for women began to come together. As stated in document 10 were Molly Wallace belived that it was not fair for that boys were taught certain things that girls were never offered. She belives that girls deserve to acquire the same habits that boys are given the chance to learn. Her audience that she aimed for was all young ladies and the academy of Philadelphia. Another recognition of gender equality is stated in document 1 were it shows a pictuure of a women holding a gun and another weapon. It shows that women fought along side with man during the war. Slaves also experienced changed during this time. As stated in docment 2 which shows the ideas behind universal freedom were beginning to show themselves. An example of this is the an Ordinance for the Government of the Territory of the United States Northwest of the River Ohio stated in document 8 which banned slavery in all U.S. territory north of the Ohio River. This relates to the 3/5 compromise were it was the first time slaves were actually couunted as people. Freedom of religion was also benefitting the Revolution. As stated in Document 4 a Statutes at Large of Virginia,Which was a movement of all men the purpose of this was to march for religious freedom. It paid off because as stated in first amendant of the bill of rigts that everyone had freedom to pratice any religion they
please. Economically America faced little change, stated in document 6 the society for the Promotion of Agriculture 1776 the medal shows a farmer plowing a field of wheat using two bulls. There is a women next to him holding wheat and above her is a circle of stars. In the background is a farm, the sun, and the phrase "VENERATE THE PLOUGH." This shows that the rich was still rewarding the common people who weren't really better off after the revolutions. This was for encouragemnt. This was aimed to the philadelphia society. After the America Revolution America changed politically, socially, and economically. Politically with a new government, socially with the change of women, slaves, and religion, and economically with promoting common people not just the rich. The America Revolution can also be compared to 911 which is were thousand of incident people died of a terrioist attacks. 911 changed America socially with people critizing the muslims, politically were airlines are following stronger secerity, and economically with more and more wars happpening.
