Is this true? Discuss the political. economics, and social impacts of the World War I on the Western world. It is very true that World War I had several defining events. It established the British Empire as the most powerful empire in the world and the largest in history.
At the start of the 20th century whilst Britain had a larger empire and the world's most powerful navy, they soon found themselves rivaled by the combined industrial might of the young new German Empire, when all the nations of Germany joined together. Germany is a rich country, lots of industry and resources. It was a threat to Britain, as it's army soon became more powerful and advanced than Britain's and its production capabilities exceeded them. When World War 1 ended the threat that was the German Empire suddenly got destroyed. Britain was no longer rivaled. Prior to WWI the 20th century was virtually just the 19th century in thought and ideas and that was all changed by the war. Second, WWI was a defining moment because it established America as an important swing power which would continue into the second world war and the strategies of the countries involved. It also ushered in America as a nation beyond a world power into a great power on par with many of the European nations. World War I also began the major anti-colonial movements throughout the world.
This is what caused the end of the British superpower, although for the time being they were even more powerful than before, World War I was also the primary cause for WWII. All the causes for World War II, such as Hitler coming to power, Japanese aggression, and a hatred of Britain and France were caused by the after effects of WWI.
It also was the initial cause of the founding of the Soviet Union, as the Russian Revolution was caused in part because of the war. This means a major cause of the Cold War was in fact the First World
