Amitai Etzioni: Should We Go Outside Of Space?
All the talk right now is space. But, why do we know more about space than we do about our own planet, Earth? Who knows what’s down there? Despite what many believe, humanity’s future should not lie among the stars. There are several reasons why this should be done. Furthermore, even though space is an infinite void full of many new things to find, so is earth. For example, we are spending way too much money when there are other ways to spend less but still being able to research outside of space. People like Amitai Etzioni, author of “Mars Can Wait”. Oceans Can’t and Mary Roach, author of “Packing for Mars” agree with this idea.

To start off, as said in the last paragraph, people are worrying about what we can find outside of space, whenever we can still research a bunch of things here on Earth. Even though what we find on Earth can significantly help us. Such as. our Oceans, our oceans are full of research and many possibilities of finding cures for a variety of diseases. For example, as Amitai Etzioni says “Ocean organisms are said to hold the promise of cures for an array of diseases.” This means that there are many possibilities to research and find organisms in our oceans that can cure many diseases here on land. Which is great. Additionally, Amitai Etzioni says “Ninety percent of the ocean floor has not even been charted, and while we have been to the moon.” Don’t you think that is crazy? It blows my mind that we know more about space than our own oceans. If people want to explore space, then maybe we should know about Earth first and then we could explore space. Additionally, if Earth has many possibilities and can significantly help us, then we should take care of
