The mind fascinates me--especially the unconscious/subconscious mind. The other than conscious is an integral part of my work in the persuasion field. In her amazing book, Diane Ackerman explains that our brains need space without volume because the conscious mind, the thinking part, can only hold a finite amount of information. And so our brains ". . . began storing information and memories outside itself on stone, papyrus, paper, computer chips, and film. This astonishing feat is so familiar a part of our lives that we don't think about it much. But it was an amazing and rather strange solution to what was …show more content…
essentially a packing problem: just store your essentials elsewhere and avoid cluttering up the cave."
Think about this.
It's both amazing and strange. Evolution has, in essence, created an infinite hard drive for our conscious minds--the unconscious.
A powerful tool to work with our unconscious/subconscious selves and a phenomenal way to get exactly what we want in life, is to map out and create our quantum universes.
For this exercise, we get a snap shot of ourselves right now, exactly where we are in our growth and life. If you're a sculptor, go ahead an chisel in stone, or perhaps you have a papyrus source. Another option is to use the "Create Your Quantum Universe" on the website www.maxpersuasion.com. If you're already a member of my coaching club or the Persuasion Factor, I'd highly recommend using this option.
Really, all you need is a pen or pencil and paper.
This is a snapshot of who you are now. Where are you? Where do you life? What do you do? What are your set/stuck points? What are your dreams? How does your life resemble the life you wanted when you were young? You can put everything in this snapshot from soup to nuts. Write it out and then think on it. Expand it. Let it grow into something that you can use as a sort of time capsule--who you were at the end of
2007.
What if you had one of these for each and every year of your life? Think back . . . who were you back in 1987. Perhaps you weren't born yet. Maybe that's when you graduated from high school. . . Some people have excellent memories and you can recall exactly who you were back then. This is the first step in creating your quantum universe. Choose your birthday or New Year's or some other day of significance to you. And allow yourself the time to really map out a vivid picture of yourself.
Let this be a little acorn that you begin to grow. And in an upcoming post I'll give you the next step, but know that as we unpack and eliminate our storage problems, we're going to have all kinds of space for the essentials.
