You can’t pay attention to everything occurring inside and outside of you. Instead, you recognize subject matters that you focus on most. Selective recognition of information is useful, but only if you focus on what matters. For instance, if you concentrate on lifting a heavy weight, but ignore your body telling you to stop, you could sustain an injury. Likewise, focus on studying late at night, while disregarding your body telling you to sleep, and your mental prowess and immune system will wane. Your body can go into decline if you don’t listen to what it says.
Observing communication from your body can make you wiser in many ways. Noticing when your stomach tenses, or you experience a sharp intake of breath, could save you from getting too close to a challenging situation. Your brain and body work together, handling details in your environment before you are aware of them. People often label this process as intuition, imagining that it’s a mysterious skill.
