In American Literature, each story has a particular idea in which it is trying to portray. In literature, the theme in a story is what is trying to be expressed done through the actions of a particular character or story. Written in 1950 by Ray Bradbury, the short story known as “August 2026: There Will Come Soft Rains,” depicts the idea that the house is more than just a “home” that a family lives in. The story goes through every detail in that goes into making a house a home whether it being the affection of weather or the chairs in the kitchen. Overall, the themes of the American Dream, with the help of other literary devices, is most prominent throughout this short story.
