They started dragging me someplace that I've never seen before, this dense forest. I then probably made the assumption that I must have upset queen elizabeth in some form. And it probably would end up going bad, so I simply just relaxed and let what happened… well happen. We started walking through some woods, pretty calm and peaceful. I saw some deers go by, but my attention went to some other guys. While I didn’t know at the time, these were some criminals who were wanted by yours truly. The guards ended up getting into a fight with them, and I would’ve run away, except one guard was keeping watch on me. After a while, they ended up killing the crooks, and 2 guards wound up dead. So far in East of Eden by John Steinbeck the story has actually resonated with me quite well, Adam and Charles are what I see as a split manifestation of who I feel I am right now. Adam is the helpless but passionate and vulnerable side of me, a loose cannon of emotion who tries to hand off the fuse to anyone willing to take it, but Charles reminds me of the impulsive and seemingly fragile side of me which actually becomes my strongest trait during times of anger or fear. I think they see it in each other too, that they have the power to destroy one another but they recognize for their sick mother they must stay civil. Given that I’ve said that Adam and Charles are a split of one personality who is to say that we don’t all have the power within…

What if a person's biggest dream became their worst nightmare? What if its ramification was losing what they loved most? The Pearl, a fiction novel by John Steinbeck, encounters the bittersweet situations in life. Steinbeck elucidates the story with a family of three-Kino, Juana, and their baby boy, Coyotito-who lived in La Paz, Mexico.
