English 122 “It is in our moments of decision that our destiny is shaped.” Tony Robbins. Deciding a career is a decisive moment in an individual’s life. With so many options it is very difficult to make a decision which will impact each and every day of your adult life. From childhood to adolescence a person changes career paths several times. Throughout younger years many children want to grow up and become a police officer or a fireman. As the years go on they begin to understand the various occupations available to make a career of. After careful thought and consideration I decided to pursue a career in accounting. Accounting is the language of business and allows an individual to understand how a company conducts its day to day operations as well as its long term assets. I decided this occupation after researching different fields within the business industry. I chose accounting over the high demanding majors of economics, finance and marketing. Although all these careers are very high paying and are currently in demand, none are comparable to accounting. Having a degree in accounting a person may choose several aspects as a career option from tax accounting to auditing. Having chosen accounting there are several stepping stones which I must accomplish before I am certified. The first critical step which needs to be taken is receiving my undergraduate degree in Accounting. Once having achieved a bachelor’s degree I must continue gaining knowledge in the field through work experience. I plan on taking part in internships while attending an accredited university so that I may receive on the job training as well as in class knowledge. I plan to receive my degree from Rutgers Business school in New Brunswick. After having finished my undergraduate degree I plan on studying countless hours to prepare for my CPA exam. This will allow me to become a certified public accountant and advance my credentials. After having all my credentials I wish
