An Example Of Free-Rider In The United States

A free- rider is a person who wants others to pay for a public good and then plan to use the good themselves; if many people act as free riders, the public good may never be provided. The problem with free-rider is when something is offered with no charge, people will demand more of it and later that create a shortage on those resources. An Example of free-riders would be health care, which requires that hospitals provide emergency care to anyone who needs it, regardless of citizenship, legal status or ability to pay, so anyone can get services whether they paid for that service or not. For public goods to be offered tax payer must first pay for the good but many people don’t pay taxes to be using the services it offers, which I can admit
is unfair.

This related to illegal immigrants because many people believe that Illegal immigrants use public goods without paying taxes. The resources include things like government assistant, public education and healthcare which are all provided because of taxpayers. I don’t believe immigrants are responsible for the free-riders problem but I can say they do contribute to it. But, what most people don’t realize is that most of them do pay taxes and it’s not all of them that are free-riders. Also, one of the problem of why they don’t pay taxes is because they are getting paid under the table and that can’t be tax which is not their faults. A solution for me would be everyone coming together through the political process and agree to pay taxes through the law that everyone contributes regardless of status. It’s not going to be easy but I feel if they are view as part of society and not just immigrants, they will contribute to society and the economy.
